Overview
Pennyweight ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at pennyweight.app and the application at app.pennyweight.app. This page explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights. We try to keep it short and specific.
What we collect and why
- Account data. Email address and name, collected through Clerk when you sign up. This is how we tell users apart and how we contact you about your account.
- App data. Products, materials, labor tasks, vendor records, pricing profile, snapshots. Everything you put into Pennyweight is stored in Supabase, scoped to your account. Other users can't see your data; no member of our team reads your catalog except for direct support requests you initiate.
- Product analytics. We use PostHog to understand which parts of Pennyweight get used and where users get stuck. PostHog captures pageviews, anonymized event data (e.g. "product created," "simulator used"), and session replays. Sensitive inputs (passwords and free-text support messages) are masked before recording. Recordings are retained for 30 days and used only for product improvement.
- Error tracking. When errors happen in your browser, we capture them via PostHog so we can fix bugs. Error reports include the page you were on and the error message, never your form contents.
- Billing. Payment information is handled by Stripe through Clerk Billing. We never see your card number; we only know whether your subscription is active and what plan you're on.
- Email. We send transactional email through Resend: trial-ending reminders, support replies, and occasional product updates if you opted in. We don't sell, share, or trade your email.
What we don't do
- No third-party ad tracking. No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no ad-network beacons. The only analytics tool we use is PostHog.
- No data brokers. We don't buy or sell user data.
- No cross-site tracking. PostHog runs on your session in Pennyweight only; we don't follow you elsewhere.
Your data is yours
You can export everything in your account (products, materials, labor, vendors, pricing profile, snapshots) as CSV or JSON from Settings, at any time, on every plan including expired trials. If you want your account deleted, email support@pennyweight.app and we'll remove your records from Supabase, anonymize your PostHog person profile, and confirm by email within 7 days.

Cookies
Pennyweight uses cookies for authentication (Clerk) and to persist analytics identifiers (PostHog). No advertising cookies. If you sign out, the auth cookie is cleared; the PostHog cookie persists so anonymous events captured before sign-in can be merged with your account on next sign-in.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we'll send an email to active accounts at least 30 days before the change takes effect. Minor edits (typo fixes, link updates) update the "Last updated" date without an email.
